        Laughter - Is Good Medicine

April 2020

Hey, did you hear about Sam's interaction with the pastor last week? He shows up at church last Sunday and afterward asked the pastor if he would pray for him. "Sure," the pastor said.  "I need you to pray for my hearing", Sam said.  So the pastor puts his fingers in Sam's ears and prays, and prays.  When he's done praying, he asks "How's your hearing now?" "I don't know", says Sam. "I don't go to court till next Tuesday."

As my five-year-old son and I were heading to McDonald's one day, we passed a car accident.  Usually, when we see something terrible like that, we say a prayer for whoever might be hurt, so I pointed and said to my son, "We should pray."  From the back seat I heard his earnest little voice: "Dear God, please don't let those cars block the entrance to McDonald's

              "Peace I Give To You"

January 23, 2023

Peace - "Undisturbed, Quiet and Tranquil. A state or period in which there is no war." That's the dictionary meaning of peace. But is it possible to have that inside of us? A river flows because it's direction is on the right course. Jesus promised that although the world would produce tribulation, His answer to that was: "Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." But, we must flow in His direction, united like a branch and a vine.

Grace - Righteousness - Spirit, and Life!  - What does it all mean?

Grace is to be received in abundance. It's the favor of God, freely given, so we always know our standing before Him in love.

Righteousness is ours. It belongs to us - purely and completely as a gift.  We never have to perform to be pleasing to Him. And we never have to wonder if we're good enough. We bear the image of Jesus Christ and we are seen in His right standing with the Father, not of our own. That's where "reigning in life" comes from. It's all designed for fragile humanity to have a secure place before God.

Spirit and Life - They come from Words, that come straight from the heart of our Great God. His words created the universe, and they have creative power in us too. As we hear them, speak them, and take them into our hearts, they begin to shape us. Their purpose is to mold us into the image of Christ. What's that look like?  It looks like a life that is lived full, abundant, overflowing and complete.  It's an awesome journey that we get to walk out in a corrupt world. It continually reflects the greatness of God.

And just how powerful are His words? "By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible." Heb.11:3. "He upholds all things by the word of His power." Heb.1:3

For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead.  Rom.1:20
